アラスカ:2007年夏

アラスカハイウエイの残りのセクションが今日の仕事。

朝から気温は高めで、ゴアテックス・インナーを外して走り始める。久しぶりの舗装道路なので、その快適さに何回も眠たくなる。

舗装路は快適だが、ダートの楽しさが無いのは仕方が無い所。道路上に何か大きな物体が見えたと思ったら、大型のムースだった。あれにぶつかったらバイクはたまらないなあ。ゆっくり道路を横切り森に消えていった。

110マイル程走り、アラスカ・ハイウエイの正式な終点であるデルタ・ジャンクションを通過。ここまでの区間はハイウエイ上で最も直線の長い区間。

頻繁にラフ道路があり注意が必要。それから更に100マイル程で、所謂アラスカ・ハイウエイの終点であるフェアバンクス着。最後の辺りは夏の気温になり、真夏の装備に切り替える。

The last section of the Alaska Highway is today's business. Warm weather allowed to continuing taking off the Gore-Tex inner. Getting used to gravel roads, riding on sealed one is too comfortable to avoid sleeping. No question of comfort ability but not really fun….　There was a large animal crossing the road and that was identified as huge moose, which will surely win if case of crash with motorbike.

Some 110-mile ride takes me to the official end of the Alaska Highway, Delta Junction. This section of the highway is the straightest piece of road in Alaska. There are a few rough sections near Dot Lake to be aware. And further 100-mile run reaches me to so the called end of the highway, Fairbanks. It was getting really warm and riding gear become for summer.
